Today you can choose whether to take an adventurous adrenaline-release tour on the Class III-IV waters of the Pacuare River, or enjoy a full day visit to the exuberant cloud forest and active volcano.
Pacuare River rafting tour: After an early morning pickup from your hotel, you will be driven by private, comfortable bus to the Operations Center for a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast. Once at the river at our private put-in, you’ll raft 16 miles deep in the heart of densely vegetated gorges, past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids, in one of Costa Rica’s most impressive primary rainforests. The Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids.
Poas Volcano, Coffee tour and La Paz Waterfall gardens: Early departure from the hotel, to the foothills of the Poas Volcano. Your first stop will be Doka Estate, where one of the best coffees in our country is produced. You will receive an introduction in the plantation; then, a visit to a wet coffee mill that is 70 years old and still works! Afterwards, the drying patios, and finally, the roaster and packing plant will give you a picture of the universe of our golden bean. From here, you will head to the Poas Volcano, featuring one of the largest crater in the world, 1.5 km (0.95 miles) wide and you will walk to the very edge of it! After spending some time at the crater, you will hike back to the transportation to head for La Paz Waterfall Gardens. At La Paz, you will enjoy the frog and snake exhibition, the butterfly garden and the hummingbird gallery and the two waterfalls of La Paz river. At the end of the tour, you will have time for some shopping.
