At its core, our partner in Argentina believes focusing on responsible tourism allows for a real exchange between locals and visitors as well as respect for the natural and cultural environment of the place being visited.  The company supports:

  • Vida Silvestre Argentina’s Foundation Program (associated with WWF) by committing to a donation of $15 per client, which is used to participate in the conservation of protected natural areas that are managed by the foundation.  Thus far, the young company has contributed USD $ 1,500.
  • Each client receives a recycled-leather welcome bag and luggage tag made by Vacavaliente, an Argentinian fair-trade company.
  • Each client is offered the opportunity to calculate their CO2 (carbon) emissions so they know the impact of their trip.  The company proposes to offset these emissions by helping a local NGO dedicated to the reforestation of native species.
  • All lodges are carefully selected in a spirit of sustainable development and responsible travel.
  • The company was selected by TraveLife certification for sustainable tourism as the first and (thus far) only inbound travel agency in Argentina with this certification.
  • The company partners with Aves Argentina, which is an association dedicated to the protection and safeguarding of birds and nature in Argentina.
  • Each client receives information on how they can be further involved with local communities, including volunteering or collaborative tourism.
Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Buenos Aires

Arrive in Buenos Aires where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel located in the neighborhood of Palermo, unique place to start your journey in Argentina.

Day 2Discovering Buenos Aires

This morning, after breakfast, your English-speaking guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you through the main areas of Buenos Aires by public transportation (local bus/ subway) starting at Plaza de Mayo and the historical quarter. This walking tour includes the visit of San Telmo – bohemian area – and La Boca, visiting the famous “Caminito” street and a “Conventillo” (typical colorful houses built by immigrants). Return to the hotel for a free afternoon.

Kindly note that there is an option in the evening to go to a traditional Milonga Show where you can learn all about the history and evolution of tango. A “milonga” is a tango club where locals and visitors get together to enjoy music and dance and if you get caught up in the passion of it all, you may want to try a tango lesson yourself! Tango is a dance recognized by UNESCO as a cultural heritage activity and different “milongas” open on different days of the week. Return to the hotel by taxi.

Another option is to share a cooking lesson with a local family, which is an authentic way to enjoy the most typical Argentine food: empanadas, a barbecue and of course: wine. Taste and make your own empanadas! The menu includes typical Argentine cuts of meat, grilled vegetables, salads, drinks, and dessert.

Day 3Trelew & Puerto Madryn

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the domestic airport in Buenos Aires for a flight to Trelew, Patagonia where you will be met and taken to your central hotel in Puerto Madryn. The rest of your day will be free to discover the city on your own.

Day 4Puerto Piramides - Whale Watching Along Peninsula Valdes

Today you’ll have an early pick up for a 10-hour small-group excursion to Peninsula Valdes, a coastal and marine nature reserve declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. This area is a unique paradise for seabirds with over 180 species present, while the coastline is home to a wide range of marine mammals, including sea lions, elephant seals and fur seals.

Between June and December, the Southern Right whales swim into the quiet waters of this gulf, so that the females can give birth. You’ll be accompanied by specialized guides throughout the day as you explore the coastline of the peninsula which serves as a unique habitat and breeding ground for the region’s very diverse fauna.

Your whale-watching adventure is also part of the Peninsula Valdes Excursion. Your captain and specialized bilingual crew will show and describe the coastal and marine ecosystem, as you travel through the area. They’ll explain the natural and biological life cycle of the whales, including birth and the care of the whale-calf.

Transfer back to Puerto Madryn.

Day 5 Penguins of Puerto Madryn - Punta Tombo

Today will be an early pick-up for a small-group (shared) guided excursion visiting the Magellan Penguin Reservation, the most important of its kind in Latin America. In the morning, we’ll also stop at Puerto Rawson for an optional boat trip to see Toninas (the smallest dolphin in the world).

We’ll continue to Punta Tombo, a nature reserve, which between September and April plays host to around 150,000 pairs of Magellanic penguins who come here to incubate their eggs. You are also likely to see typical land mammals of the Patagonian steppes, including guanacos, rhea, maras (a relative of the guinea pig) and grey foxes. Return to hotel in Puerto Madryn.

Day 6Trelew & Iguazu

Today, you’ll transfer from the hotel in Puerto Madryn to Trelew’s airport for a flight to Iguazú (IGR, under 2 hours, stopover in Buenos Aires). On arrival, you will be met and driven to a comfortable hotel.

Day 7Iguazu Falls - Argentinian Side

Early pick-up from your hotel to spend the day exploring the world-famous Iguazu Falls. The (shared) group guided day trip includes all three sections of the falls. The lower falls accessible via a boardwalk of 1.7 km (be prepared to climb a lot of stairs!); the upper falls with incredible panoramic views along a 1.2 km boardwalk, and The Devil’s Throat accessible via a boardwalk 1.1 km long.

There will be time for lunch during the tour (not included) and then take the Nautical Adventure excursion which takes you on a boat ride under the falls. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 8Eco Lodge Experience

Today, you will have an early pick-up and private transfer to Surucuá Ecolodge in the heart of the jungle. During this day, you will discover the area first by walking and then canoeing along with a naturalist tour guide who will explain his knowledge of the jungle. During the evening, the most adventurous can take a nocturnal walk along with a guide to observe owls and other animals. A unique experience!

Day 9 Jungle Experience

Another day of immersion in the jungle! During this day you will discover a wide variety of birds, feel the presence of big mammals and find their footprints, or see a variety of butterflies, orchids, and insects. You can kayak along the Iguazu River, which is surrounded by the rainforest or if you prefer, you can just relax and disconnect from everything in this natural environment.

Day 10 Departure

This morning will be an early transfer from Surucuá (2 hours approx) to Iguazu’s airport for a flight back to Buenos Aires’ domestic airport and connection to Ezeiza’s international airport.
