I’ve been travelling and volunteering for nearly two years now. In the beginning of this year, I came to a place called ‘Crann Óg’. It’s a small eco farm/community/self-catering destination in the County of Galway in the west of Ireland. So, I stayed there Spring on, interrupted by occasional visits to my boyfriend.
Since September we’re working here together. On the farm we have horses, sheep, ducks, chicken, cats and dogs, and occasionally a heron.
Crann Óg offer eco-tourism accommodation well suited to families and anyone wishing to have a deeper experience of nature. Our eco-farm is beside a 40 hectare rare Irish oak woodlands in South Galway, at the gateway to the Burren National Park. There are two log cabins here and we also rent out yurts and bell tents in the summer months. We have compost toilets to save water and use solar energy to heat the showers. You can come and pitch your own tent as well. On-site we offer yoga, meditation, qi gong, massage therapies, animal imagery, pony walks etc.
We are proud recipients of Ecotourism Ireland’s Silver Award for our Children’s Eco-Yoga and Nature Experience programs! We host various events in the areas of self empowerment, Eco Family Days, Forest School, Teen Nature weekends, meditation retreats, and much more throughout the year. You may also rent Crann Óg’s facilities for your own workshops, classes and events.
Our program for this year will be published soon. Check out our website crann-og.net and find us on facebook and linkedin.
