Why Authentic Ecotourism?

The local guides and locally owned accommodations offered on this trip enable travelers to connect with the flora and fauna of the region by learning more about how it interplays with the area's heritage and history.

Day 1, To the End of the World!
Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

Today we start our adventure at the very end of the world, in Ushuaia! The world's southernmost city is located in Argentina's Tierra del Fuego on the shores of the Beagle Channel, with the snow-peaked Martial Mountains spanning the horizon. The small port city of Ushuaia was a prison colony until the mid 20th century and today is the capital of Tierra del Fuego. The name Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire) was given to the region by the Portuguese sailor Hernando de Magallanes, who saw the indigenous group Ona making fires on the coast while he was sailing through the Magellan Strait in 1520.

Our guide will be waiting for us at the airport to take us to our hotel. Once check-in is complete, we receive a short briefing about the trip itinerary and the evening is free for exploring the city. Overnight Hotel Tolkeyen,Ushuaia

Day 2, Gable Island and Penguin Colony
Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

After breakfast we're off to Gable island, a must visit for those seeking magic at the world's end! In the middle of the Beagle Channel, the island is home to pristine wildlife and rich history which we discover as we walk, sail and discover the island. During our visit we visit the island's penguins! Our guide talks us through the different bird and plant species too as well as the history of the first civilization on the mystical island. With the open landscapes and gusts of wind there's a real end of the world sensation. Late afternoon we return to Ushuaia. Overnight Hotel Tolkeyen,Ushuaia

Day 3, Tierra del Fuego National Park
Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

We start our day by driving to the western end of Tierra del Fuego NP. Once we reach the first path we walk about four miles in one of the most beautiful coastal stretches of the Park, full of native vegetation. Our guide will talk about the typical flora of the region we are seeing: Lenga, Nire, Cohiue, Orchid, Canelo and Notro trees.

Later on, we arrive at La Roca and board a zodiac boat sailing on the famous Beagle Channel to Redonda Island, a national reserve. Here we eat lunch in an island hut with a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. We have free time to explore the Island and observe the Magellan Cormorants which nest in a rocky wall. Afterwards we sail towards Lapatia Bay and then we are driven back to the hotel to spend our final evening in Ushuaia. Overnight Hotel Tolkeyen,Ushuaia

Day 4, Leaving the end of the world
Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

This morning we sail through the Beagle Channel, reaching the famous Les Eclaireurs lighthouse and Isla de Lobos before we drive to the airport to take our onward flight (departing after 3pm)... Adios Tierra del Fuego!
