Why Authentic Ecotourism?

The company is an integral tourism project for the island, both from an ecological point of view as well as from a cultural and social point of view. Each detail of the hotel's architectural design has the objective of inviting the guest to be part of an adventure in which they getting to know, admire, take care and preserve the surrounding region.

Day 1, Island Arrival
Santiago to Easter Island, Chile

After the flight from Santiago to Easter Island, we're met at the airport by our friendly local guide and taken to the main town and capital of Easter Island, Hanga Roa, where almost 90% of Easter Island's inhabitants live. We arrive at our exclusive boutique hotel where we'll be staying for the next 4 nights and enjoy a welcome cocktail while our guide tells us about the upcoming itinerary. Then we enjoy a good night´s rest, ready for tomorrow's adventure. Overnight Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa 5*, Hanga Roa

Day 2, Trek to Orongo and sunset at Tahai

After breakfast we leave the hotel, walking past meadows and little forests in front of the Pacific ocean horizon. At the end of the trail lies a breathtaking view of Rano Kau, extinct volcano, with its crater lake. After appreciating the enormity of the crater we walk to the ceremonial village of Orongo, home of the famous birdman competition, and see unique petroglyphs related to local culture, as well as admiring the three little islands facing the coast. We then walk down to the Ana Kai Tangata cave and enjoy its beautiful cave paintings before returning to the hotel for lunch.

In the afternoon we head to archaeological site and ceremonial complex Tahai. The site was restored in 1974 by American archeologist William Mulloy and has three main Ahus - Ko Te Riku, Tahai and Vai Ure. Here we enjoy a spectacular sunset with Moai framing the horizon before driving back to the hotel. Overnight Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa 5*, Hanga Roa

Day 3, Ahus Vaihu, Akahanga, Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki, Ahu Te Pito Kura, Anakena, Ahu Nau Nau

Today's first stop is at an unrestored Ahu named Vaihu, situated in the Hanga Te'e bay on the island's south coast. From here we head to Ahu Akahanga, where legend has it the famous Hotu Matua king is buried in a tomb. We then drive to Rano Raraku, one of the island's most important sites, where approximately 900 statues where made, 397 of which are still lying there, some left mid way through construction.

We visit Ahu Tongariki, restored in 1995 with its 15 statues, and then visit Ahu te Pito Kura before heading to the Anakena beach where there are two restored platforms - Ahu Nau Nau and Ahu Ature Huki. From the beach we have a great view of the Pacific ocean while we wander along the palm tree lined beach. Overnight Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa 5*, Hanga Roa

Day 4, Horse riding Ahu Akivi

Our guide will pick us up from the hotel after breakfast and we'll start riding along the north-west coast of the island passing the ceremonial village of Tahai. Along the way we visit attractive caves and enjoy the scenery as we make our way to Ahu Akivi, with its 7 Moai which were restored in the 1960's. Legend has it that these statues represent the 7 explorers who were sent to explore Rapa Nui by king Hotu Matua, the island's first settler and supreme chief.

From here we head to the unrestored Ahu Hanga Poukura and then visit the quarry Puna Pau with its red scoria stone, where all the Pukaos (hats or topknots formerly placed on top of some of the Moai statues) were made. Then it's back the the hotel for lunch and free time in the afternoon, with the option of an extra boat trip which can include snorkeling (consult for prices). In the evening we have dinner and a show! Overnight Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa 5*, Hanga Roa
